STYLE SPOTLIGHT: Ode to Willona Woods

image

Before Carrie Bradshaw and the girls of Sex in the City, Designing Women, and Dynasty, there was Willona Woods from Good Times.   This week post is to all the divas out there who remembered and admired the force of nature that was Willona.  Not only was she single, sassy, brassy, and a little messy, she absolutely slayed those head wraps, tall leather dress boots, and kimonos. But as mouthy as she was, she was still an enigma. Seriously, does anyone know the actual name of the “Boutique” she worked in for all those years? Ex-husband and adopted daughter aside, what was the back story on her family? And how did she afford all those bad rags? I may never know the answers to these thought provoking questions. But, the one thing I do know is that she was a style maven who wore beautiful colors, prints, and accessories that championed her confidence and effervescent personality. The best part about her style is that most of it is timeless and can be easily replicated.  Feeling  bored with your wardrobe? Checkout a rerun or two, you maybe surprised by what Willona-esque look you can pull together to illuminate your effervescent personality.  So here’s to you Williona we were lucky to have YOU for the Good Times.

  1. Hey Dee. I take it back!!! Willona was a good choice to spotlight. She did slay with her wigs, head wraps and stylish pant suits. I guess that is why you are the fashionista. You have a great eye for fashion. Great blog entry!!! -Charisse
