Check it Out (Curvy girl included)

Image result for stylish woman wearing check outfitsIf I  walked up to you and utter the words Tartan, Tattersall, Windowpane Check, Madras, and Gingham, would you have any idea as to what I was talking about? If not, no worries. Because prior to researching this topic, neither did I. The words listed above and the focus of this week post are the many patterns and variations of  what we  sometimes incorrectly refer to as plaid. The origin of the fabric goes as far back as the 18th century when tartan, the original name, was  used to delineate the different Scottish clans. But from the quintessential school girl uniform to the trendy hipster subculture, tartan would evolve into a stylish, popular, and practical wardrobe staple known the world over.  Tartan offers an array of  colorful check patterns and requires very little in the way of style technique so easy does it when mixing prints. Generally, the larger the check patterns (i.e. the window pane check) the safer it is to add other prints. But for the divas whose  wardrobe consists of  mostly solids, consider pairing it with gingham or tartan check patterns similar to the style perspective above. So the next time you’re in the market for new wears,  hopefully this week post will inspire you to check it out.
