“Girl please, what real woman could wear that”? “Man, I knew I should have I lost weight before I bought it now it’ll just sit in my closet”. “My (fill in the blank) is way too big/small to wear that”. If these thoughts about wearing certain pieces that fit close to the body ever tipped toed across your mind, then you guessed it, this week’s post is coming down your street. The body con is a misconception most women have about clothing that can or cannot be worn on certain body types. For example, body conscience (bodycon) dresses can be worn by a variety of sizes as long as the right dress and support garments are chosen. To break it down further, bandage, textured, and stretchy bodycon dresses can be very flattering on both full and slim figures. For full figure divas, these dresses can be slimming without hiding your curves. For the slim divas, they promote curves and definition. Adding a belt further narrows the waist creating the illusion of or actually accentuating an hour glass figure. So going forward, I encourage you to wear the cutest bodycon dress you can find (I can help with that), if needed, invest in a good support garment, get off of shoulda, coulda, and woulda street about your body type, and please STOP falling for the body con.
