I’ve often talked about the necessity of the “Go To” piece. It was featured extensively in The Dress Code and Tee Time posts and subtly mentioned in Wrap It Up. Well baby its back as this week post focuses on the halter. Now although the halter neckline was introduced by French designer Madeleine Vionnet in the late 1920s, early-1930s, it took a stylish sexy size 14, a famous white halter dress, and a windy subway grate to turn it into an iconic wardrobe staple(see pic of Marilyn Monroe on the left). Speaking of size 14, halters can be worn on any body type with the right undergarment (but without the visible bra straps). For the divas working with a smaller bust line, the one-piece front is the best choice for the illusion of a fuller chest. For the divas with larger bust lines and/or broad shoulders, a halter neckline with a fitted longer bodice helps to create a more proportionate look. For all of you divas not interested in going bare back, there’s the cross-back, racerback, and full coverage halters for your consideration. So whether you decide to bring sexy back or not, either option is the best option when making halters a part of your go to collection. Because when choosing style over trend, it’s a sure bet that the halter will never falter.
